Outdoor Risk Management Training

A combination of classroom based sessions and practical activity set in contextual terrain such as coastal and mountain & moorland.

Course Content

  • Principles of assessing hazards and risk
  • Consideration of environmental conditions and influences on hazards (weather and ground conditions)
  • Operating in a variety of situations and terrain (Rural, hills, mountains, coasts etc)
  • Equipment considerations for operating in remote locations
  • Safety procedures
  • Basic navigation skills and strategies (good and poor visibility)
  • Emergency procedures: calling for rescue, providing essential information (grid references etc)
  • Considerations for lone worker

This course is run by Plas y Brenin Outdoor Centre.
