Olly Sanders - Sea kayaker, Mountain Climber and Owner of Rock & Sea Adventures
A B.C.U. Level 5 Sea Kayak Coach and A.C.A. Advanced Open Water Instructor, Olly has been playing on the Snowdonia and Anglesey coastline for 20 years.
His qualifications also extend to the climbing arena where he holds a Mountain Instructor Certificate (M.I.C.), the highest instructor qualification in the UK, as well as being a nominee for the Piolet D'Or in 2004 - mountaineering's most prestigious International award - for first ascents in Alaska. He has had many successes, and a few failures, in India, Nepal, Patagonia and Peru, many of which involved the odd prussik and a bit of honest hauling!
Expeditioning also plays a large part of his life, whether it be on big walls or big mountains.
12 years as a Senior Instructor at Plas y Brenin and owner of Rock and Sea Productions, a DVD production company, has helped him work at the highest level in instructional awards. Running courses with other rescue organisations, as well as self rescue courses with recreational climbers and instructors, has given him a unique insight into all aspects of the sport.
He remains keen as long as his body holds out, the trips are a good laugh and there's plenty of decent coffee.
Olly holds a PLASA National Rigging Certificate (NRC) Level 3 and is a trainer and assessor for UK Rigging. The NRC is a qualification designed to give riggers recognition for their skills, knowledge and expertise, and a means of demonstrating that they've attained a professional standard within their chosen rigging discipline.
Olly is a Rescue 3 independent assessor for their Rope Operations & Rescue Training Courses. Rescue 3 offer state of the art technical rescue training courses and have become the recognized world leader in water and flood rescue.
Olly is also an experienced public speaker - more details here.
